Mr. Anthony Paul Dei “a.k.a Bursar” Laid to Rest

His remains were laid in state at the Ejisu Kyidom Family house in Besease for friends, family, and loved ones to pay their last respects to the late Mr. Anthony Paul Dei. He was later during the day interred at the Besease Public Cemetery, about half a mile from the school where he completed his elementary education nearly half a century ago.

On Sunday, August 9, a memorial service was held for the late Mr. Dei at Living Stream Assemblies of God Chapel at Besease. The Assemblies of God is the world’s largest Pentecostal denomination in the world. People who attended the funeral, burial, and memorial service followed all the COVID-19 protocols outlined by the government of Ghana.

Mr. Anthony Paul Dei after completing his commercial education got a job at the Wenchi District Treasury as an accounts clerk. While working at the Treasury Department at Wenchi, he completed courses in accounting and later earned a diploma in Accounting. Once he earned this certificate, he applied for a job as an accountant in the Ghana Education Service in 1974. He served in the Ghana Education Service for nearly 20 years before he retired.

Mr. Dei had a great sense of humor. He called himself Guy Jesus. He argued that Jesus died to save all of us and yet very few people call themselves Jesus. He, therefore, called himself Guy Jesus to make the name of Jesus popular in his community. In other words, he wanted to be a disciple of Jesus. Some of his friends called him “Aketekyire,” while others called him simply AP.

Mr. Anthony Paul Dei died at the age of 70. He was married to Mrs. Alice Dei for nearly 50 years. Mr. AP left behind six children, five men, and one woman.
May his soul Rest in Perfect Peace
