COVID-19: Respect the social-distancing norm-MP tells Constituents
The member of Parliament for Ejisu constituency in the Ashanti region Mr. Kwabena Owusu Aduomi has called on his constituents and the world to keep calm and respect the social- distancing norm over the wide spread of the novel disease COVID-19.
He is confident that, the COVID-19 will disappear in no time, and every activity will come to normalcy.
The Ejisu MP said this, when he presented an assorted item to the Ejisu Municipal health directorate, Taxi and Tro tro terminals at Ejisu, and Bonwire, which forms part of the measure to conquer and defeat the wide spread of the COVID-19 among Ghanaians.
The items include hundreds of the Veronica bucket, hand sanitizer, dozens of Dettol, toilet rolls, soaps and etc.
Mr. Kwabena Owusu Aduomi who double as the Deputy Minister of Roads and Highways, plead with the constituents to support and abide by the government directives in the fight against the COVID-19, he is of the firm beliefs that, our actions may influence the decision of the government on whether to extend the lockdown.
Addressing the nation on Sunday, April 5, 2020, in his fifth update on COVID-19 epidemic, President Akufo-Addo noted that the obedience of Ghanaians to the health directives regarding the virus will be the ultimate decider for the government to lift the restrictions on them sooner or later.
He asked Ghanaians for their “continued patience, support, vigilance and adherence to the measures” and further advised every citizen to “play his or her part to enhance our collective efforts at containing the spread of the virus, which will enable us to hasten the lifting of these restrictions, and returning the nation to normalcy”.
Ghana has confirmed 73 new cases of the novel Coronavirus, bringing the total count to 287.
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) in a statement said with the institution of the enhanced contact tracing and testing measures, Ghana has recorded an increase in the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases.
“As of 6 April 2020, 23:30 hr, a total of 287 cases of COVID-19 with five deaths have been recorded.
“The regional distribution of the cases are as follows: Greater Accra Region has most cases (258) followed by the Ashanti Region (18), Northern Region (10), Upper West Region (1), Eastern Region (1) and Upper East Region (1),” the statement read.
