Suspend Ejisuhene now two groups plead with Asantehene
The Asante Youth Association and Kumasi Youth Association (Kuya) headquarters in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital are appealing to the King of Asanteman,Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and Asanteman Traditional Council to immediately suspend the paramount Chief of Ejisu traditional area,Oguakro Afrane Okesse IV for openly insulting one of the hard working Members of Parliament (MPs) for Ejisu who doubles as Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways,Hon.Kwabena Owusu Aduomi.
According to the two groups, the move would go a long way to serve as good deterrent to other chiefs especially in the round to the December general elections.
To them, the letter of apology by Ejisumanhene to Hon.Aduomi has further exposed him and needs to be sanctioned to serve as deterrent to other chiefs.
Mr.Tweneboah Koduah, the General Secretary of Asnate Youth Association who doubles as Chairman of Kumasi Youth Association( Kuya) in an interview said they will soon officially petition Asantehene,Asanteman council to sanction Ejisuhene for using an unprintable words on Ejisu MP.
Mr.Koduah who is popularly known in the political space as Dr.T.K. expressed their displeasure over such comments coming from not a mere chief but a paramount chief within Asanteman.
“Under this 21st Century and under the watch of Nana Afrane Okesse, people are selling on the streets of Ejisu, the Municipal and Constituency capital. Nana Yaa Asantewaa carved a rich image for a Ejisuman, what can Ejisuhene currently show to the World since his assumption on the throne?
“All that he has done including establishment of a radio station, construction of stores among others are all in his name and not in the name of the traditional council. For Nana Afrane Okesse to go on air or publicly insulting one of the hard working MPs and a deputy Minister under NPP administration is a disgrace to Asanteman,Ejisu stool and Ejisuman and needs to be sanctioned”.
For them, the apology by Ejisumanhene should not end the matter and wish Asantehene and Asanteman Council suspend him for a while for others to take a lesson from it.
It would be recalled that during a courtesy call by Lawyer John Kumah, the newly elected NPP Parliamentary for Ejisu on Ejisuhene he used unprintable words against Hon.Aduomi in his attempts to advise Lawyer Kumah.
The chief is seen in a video which has gone viral on social media platforms making such derogatory comments against his own MP.
Nana Okesse has admitted he made the comments out of anger but was not ready to render unqualified apology to the MP but has since made a quick u-turn.
